A note for my students and their families:
Hello! My name is Melissa Jordan and this is my second year at New Manchester High School. I have lived in Douglasville since I was 2 years old, and I am a graduate of Alexander High School. I have been married for 11 years to my high school sweetheart and we have a son, Johnathan, who is 5. I attended the University of West Georgia, where I earned a Bachelors Degree in History and a Bachelors Degree in French, both in 2006. Shortly after, I recognized a need for mathematics teachers in our county and went back to West Georgia, where I earned my teaching certificate and became certified to teach both math and history. I recently completed my Masters Degree at Kennesaw State University in Instructional Technology. I have spent most of my career in the math department, but have had the chance to teach classes for the social studies department as well. I spent the first seven years of my career teaching at Douglas County High School.
I believe that education is something that we MUST give our youth to help them be successful, productive citizens, because it is the one thing that can elevate them to live to their fullest potential. I have an open door policy for both my students and their parents/guardians. If there is any thing that I can do to make your experience at NMHS better, please do not hesitate to let me know.
